Join Hosts Fran Gavin and Tim Frederiks as they welcome Denise Scairpon, Kathy Gesumaria and Viviana Morales-Burgess to discuss Special Education in Schools with guests from Sparta Schools Lourdes Franconere, School Social Worker and Bari Bristow, School Psychologist.

This show focuses upon the roles and responsibilities of Child Study Team members in public schools. When a student has experienced serious, persistent difficulties with some aspect of school, staff members or parents may seek assistance from the school’s Child Study Team (CST). Children between the ages of three (3) and twenty-one (21) can be evaluated by the Child Study Team (CST) to determine if there exists an educational disability. Tonight we will hear from a school psychologist and Learning Disabilities Teacher-Consultant as they share their roles and responsibilities working with students, teachers, and parents. We will also hear about the benefits of having therapy dogs in schools to support students with special needs.
